With all the excitement being generated at the top of the heap, the commissioner completely overlooked the fact that Mark Byrne has clinched last place. This is actually hardly a surprise, since Byrne hasn't finished in the Top 100 since 2006, when he finished in 92nd place.
Gary Arlio and Richie Corsetto avoided last by one point. Arlio avoided the ignominious distinction of tying Mike Burns as the only person to finish last twice. Gary also finished in last in 2003.
Richie, the older brother to the commissioner's boy hood chum, is some one us younglings looked up to. Now, in light of his woeful performance, we may have to rethink that position.
