I'm Rich! I'm Rich! I'm Rich!

Daughter of the commissioner Cara Scancarella is this year's DFS NCAA Tournament Pool Champion (2418)! She seemed surprised when I reminded her that she has to fork over half the proceeds to dear ole dad, who claims to have mentored and advised her. Cara vehemently disagrees, pointing out that dad's record has been average to poor since the pool was founded in 1991. Well . . . if that's how she wants it . . . I will simply bill her for rent, utilities, cable, etc. this month.

Leo Lehanski, age 3, finishes second (930). It's clear to the commissioner that Leo's father's NESCAC education is rubbing off on him. Leo, like Cara, vehemently disagreed. I tend to agree. What do those Bowdoin guys know anyway?

Alison Chanfrau takes 3rd (372) and is the highest placing adult. She hails from the powerhouse Chanfrau family, which placed three other family members in the Top 50: Andrew (39th), Michael (47th) and Claire (47th). "They didn't do badly," Alison says. "Then again, they didn't quite finish in 3rd, did they?"

Hard luck Andy Pinto would have won it all had Gonzaga won. Now he settles for a goose egg.

Thanks all for participating everyone! Thanks also for, with the exception of James Casey, paying on time.

The 27th Annual DFS NCAA Tournament Pool

Congratulations! You are cordially invited to participate in the 27th running of the DFS NCAA Tournament Pool!  I’m thrilled to say that our pool continues to be strong, robust and very competitive. Last year, in fact, the pool attracted 213 participants.

George Hogan (2691) is our defending champion. Gary Arlio (1035) finished second last year, while Maria Ferraro (207) and Griffin Looney (207) tied for 3rd. All are expected to make noise again this year.

Please note our point system has changed. Please review the instructions link below. Also, based on the actions of a few rule-breaking Bad Apples, an unbending and uncompromising rule has been implemented - - - all monies have to be delivered to the commissioner no later than high noon on Thursday, March 16. If payment is submitted by mail, envelops must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 15. Anyone who is late will be declared ineligible and disqualified from the pool.

Directions on how to participate, pool history, how to submit dues can be found on the links below.
